Clutter Be Gone
This eclipse season has shown me where I have been allowing myself to just run on autopilot and why operating that way doesn’t allow me to thrive. Honestly, this was a theme that had been running in the background of my mind prior to eclipse season. Life has shown me that death is still imminent and unpredictable. Grief has caused me to once again, take stock in who and what matters in my life. So, running on autopilot might as well be…death. My alter space became a catch all and that is how my mind has felt as well so it was time for an overhaul.
When I can see a behavioral pattern in my life that needs redirection, I start by getting curious with myself. I asked myself, “How can I optimize my life, so it feels better for the season that I am currently in?” During this particular season of grief, I have wanted to throw the baby out with the bathwater and just start all over. But that is just another form of running away, so I am back to optimization research.
By asking the question, it allows my brain to look for ways that I can optimize my life and then I am able to start imagining that optimization with every small action. While my mind felt that it needed optimization, it is always directly related to how disorganized my life is. More than anything, I kept feeling the need to start clearing more space and releasing more material objects. Slowly but surely, a new environment at home is beginning to take shape. An environment that will allow for more ease to access time for myself. Whenever I have felt cluttered in my mind, my environment always seems to match. Declutter my outer life and the inner life will follow suit, right? The only way this works is to do the work. The work then means to act, and any small action is still worthy. This Pisces eclipse is closing a larger Piscean chapter for the collective. If you are doing your own work, then this is what it can look like.
Pisces asks us to acknowledge what cannot be organized away:
Grief that has not followed a clean timeline
Exhaustion we have rationalized or ignored
Boundaries that became blurred through compassion
Dreams or expectations that no longer match reality
Feelings we have tried to understand instead of actually feeling
Situations in which surrender has become more honest than control
In a world where there are a lot more questions than answers, try to find the pockets of your life that can be managed or optimized so that you can release outdated emotions and stories in order to make room for something new, whatever that may be.
I don’t know what comes next, and maybe that is the point. I cannot optimize my way out of grief or organize every uncertain part of being alive. But I can clear a drawer. I can change a habit. I can notice where I have checked out and choose to come back. I can make my home and my days more supportive of the person I am now.
Maybe that is what this eclipse season has been asking of me: not to burn my life down and start over, but to stop abandoning it by moving through it unconsciously. To release what no longer belongs, make room for what does, and be present for the life that is still here.
